WDSS aims to develop each student’s potential by working closely families to ensure student needs are met. Our schools philosophy is based on the belief that all children can learn and that children learn best in a co-operative environment that is happy, challenging and supportive. Individualised learning plans are collaboratively designed based on our world class curriculum, to meet the unique needs of every student.
Each student has an Individual Learning Plan based and written in collaboration with parents/carers and focused on the student’s academic, social and emotional development. At all times, our major focus is on the strengths of each student.
Our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support program acknowledges students for their caring and positive behaviour. Student voice is represented through our Junior School Council.
Small classes, excellent student to staff ratios and programs which specifically cater for students with intellectual and other disabilities, mean that our well trained staff are meeting the diverse challenges of education for our students in 2013 and beyond.
The schools motto Together We Will signifies the collaborative approach to providing excellence in special education by teaching teams, parents/carers, therapists and the wider community
We have a passionate, professional and committed staff of teachers, specialists, and education support who strive to help our students become positive and independent community members.
